What is Edamame?
Edamame (pronounced ed-ah-mah-me) are young soybeans. They are available in the Pod – Whole (Edamame) or Shelled (Soybean). Asian cultures have been eating Edamame for centuries. In Japanese eda means “twig” and mame means “bean”. Edamame refers to young soybeans cropped with their twig or beans on the branch.
Edamame has become very popular in North America due to the consumers awareness of the goodness of soy products. Edamame is often endorsed by key celebrities such as Oprah, Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz, due to their health benefits and ease in preparation.
Nature’s Classic Edamame Pods are great as an appetizer or healthy snack. They are ready in under 3 minutes by microwaving them in our convenient steam bag packaging. To consume, the soybean is squeezed from the pod using your fingers and or mouth. The pods themselves are not edible.
Shelled Edamame (soybeans) are also great as an appetizer or healthy snack and have numerous other applications. They can be used in salads (cold or hot), as a vegetable side dish, stir fry, as a spread, dip, or as a garnish. Let your imagination run wild. See our recipe section for more ideas.

Non GMO. What does that mean?
Non-GMO indicates that we do not use genetically altered soybean seeds, nor do we modified the structure of the bean at any point in our research, development and production process. Genetically modified fruits and vegetables are bioengineered in order to create seeds and plants that are resistant to insects and disease, simplify weed control and extend shelf life. Currently, there is not enough published research on the long-term effects of GMOs. Learn more about GMO.
